Clarence Milton Newsom, Jr. 

Sunset - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2002, at 
First Baptist Church in Sunset for Clarence Milton Newsom, Jr., 79, who died 
Friday, March 22, 2002, at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette. 
Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Carencro. The 
Rev. Bruce Graves, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Sunset, will officiate 
at the services. 
A native of Hinton, Mr. Newsom was a resident of Carencro. 
Mr. Newsom is survived by his wife, Mae Whitten Newsom, of Carencro; two sons, 
Clarence M. Newsom III and his wife, Eugenia, of Arlington, Texas, and Daryl 
Newsom and his wife, Sandy of Midlothian, Texas; one daughter, Gale Marmottin 
and her husband, William, of Carencro; seven grandchildren, Corey and Andy 
Newsom, Chris and Grady Marmottin, Galyn Marmottin Clayton, Gena Marmottin 
Dartez and Eugene Newsom; six great-grandchildren, Victoria, Hayley and Trevor 
Newsom, Alex Newsom, Madison Vidal and Morgan Marmottin; and one sister, Violet 
McCartney, of Jena. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence M. Newsom Sr. and the former 
Vera Prestridge, both natives of Caldwell Parish; and one grandchild, David Newsom.
