Headline: Rev. L. C. Crain, Sikes Native, Dies in Grayson

The Rev. L. C. Crain, 88, of Grayson, died Sunday, April 30, 1972, at the 
Caldwell Hospital after a short illness.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spring Hill Baptist Church with 
the Revs. T. O. Arrington and Paul Kobb officiating. 

Burial was in Old Union Cemetery under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home 
of Columbia.

Rev. Crain was born near Sikes, in Winn Parish, and was pastor of Hebron Church 
for many years.  He also pastored other churches in the parish.  In later 
years, he moved to Caldwell Parish where he was residing at the time of his 
death.

The Rev. Crain was the pioneer minister of music and religion in Central and 
North Louisiana for 71 years.  He graduated from Hildebrand College of Music of 
Bridge Water, Va.  He established a number of churches in nine parishes.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eula Dunn Crain of Grayson; three daughters, 
Mrs. Joe DeLeon of Houston, Tex., Mrs. J. G. Hodges of Austin, Tex., and Mrs. 
T. L. Parker of Grayson; three sons, Talmage Crain of McKinleyville, Calif., 
the Rev. LeVelle Crain of Grayson and R. C. Crain of West Monroe; 21 
grandchildren 40 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
