Obituary of Bettye Crawford
January 31, 1974


A 12-year-old Enterprise girl, Bettye Merle Crawford died Friday at the 
Caldwell Hospital and Clinic here from gunshot wounds suffered at her home 
January 16.

According to the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's department, the girl was shot 
by a high-caliber rifle.  A member of the family said the shooting, which 
has been ruled accidental, occured as her brother was cleaning the rifle.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. at the Enterprise High School 
Auditorium with the Rev. Jack Crews officiating.

Burial was in the Rosefield Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son 
Funeral Home of Columbia.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. P. Crawford, Jr., 
Enterprise; a sister, Lisa Crawford, Enterprise; and a brother, Phillip 
Crawford, Enterprise; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred McCormack, 
Bossier City and Mrs. Beatrice Crawford, Enterprise.
