G. Dewey, Sr., aged 83 years, after an illness of some months. Deceased was born in the State of New York [Massachusetts], but removed to this section when quite a young man, and served throughout the war in the service of the Confederacy. After the close of the war he located in this town, and has been one of its prominent citizens. Deceased was laid to rest in Columbia cemetery beside the graves of several of his children, who have preceded him, in the presence of a large concourse of friends. He leaves a wife, a son, Mr. E. G. Dewey, and Miss Iola Dewey of this town, and two daughters, Mrs. Josie Hanchey and Mrs. Edna Wade to mourn his loss, to whom we join their many friends in extending sympathy.
