M. May, 86, Succumbs; Rites Held at Hebron The Hebron community was saddened by the death of Dudley Mayfield May, better known as Uncle Dud May, Saturday, June 20, 970, in the Caldwell Hospital. Uncle Dud lived in the edge of Caldwell Parish. He was very civic minded and was known far and near for his interest in gospel singing. The Tri-Parish Singing was organized at Hebron in 1951 under his supervision. He also was chairman of the board of deacons and son director at Hebron Church for more than 20 years. Uncle Dud died at the age of 86 years and 11 months. He was a member of Rosemary Lodge No. 278 and also served 20 years as School Board member in Caldwell Parish of which he was a past president. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Hebron Baptist Church with Rev. T. O. Arrington, Rev. Tom Parker and Rev. Virgil Jones officiating. Burial was in Hickory Springs Cemetery, in Caldwell Parish. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Lois Womack of West Monroe, three sons, Woodrow and Wayne of Grayson and Hollis of West Monroe, eight grand- children and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons Johnny May, Don May, Jack Johnston, Prentis Waggoner, Ronnie McIlwain and Larry Rogers.
