Obituary of Mrs. Lydia Downs, The Caldwell Watchman
January 31, 1974

Funeral Services for Mrs. Lydia Downs, 74, of Kermit, Texas, formerly of 
Columbia were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Riser and Son Funeral
Home of Columbia.

The Rev. Jimmy Bolton officiated with burial in Fellowship Cemetery near 
Columbia.  Mrs. Downs died Saturday in Memorial Hospital in Kermit, Texas 
after a long illness.

Mrs. Downs was the widow of the late Ben Downs.

Survivors include one son, Lacy Downs of Monroe; five daughters, Mrs. 
Harace Coulter, Mrs. Marie Parker, Mrs. Ernest Berry, all of Kermit, Texas,
Mrs. Ross Hangel of Branti, Texas, and Mrs. W. B. Tyler of Monroe; two 
brothers, Rev. Johnnie Kelley of Columbia and Albert Kelley of Winnsboro; 
three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Sue Adams of Winnsboro, Mrs. Barbel Haddox 
and Mrs. Emma Coates, both of Columbia; and 15 grandchildren and 11 
great-grandchildren.
