Pam Roy officiating. Interment will follow in the Columbia Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Coates was born in Caldwell Parish on August 23, 1909 to the union of Patrick Kendrick and Winnie Daniels Ford and died Sunday, February 9, 2003 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. She was a homemaker and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbia. She was past president of the Caldwell High Band Boosters Club. Survivors include her son: Dr E. D. Coates, Jr. and his wife: Susan of Monroe, her grandchildren: Catherine Coates of New York City, N.Y. and Courtland Coates of Ruston, several neices and nephews and very special friends: Ruby Lasyone, Ellie Valentine and Gaylne Wilkins. She was preceded in death by her husband: Elverson D. Coates, Sr., her brothers: Claude Ford, Felton Ford and Douglas Ford, and her twin sister: Irma Ford Jones. Pallbearers will be Douglas Crockett, John Carroll, Cecil Hill, Jr., David Erskine, Ronnie Darden, and Steen Stroud. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Columbia, P.O. Box 178, Columbia, La. 7l4l8 or La. Methodist Children's Home, P.O. Box 929, Ruston, La. 7l273 Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia and Wednesday from 9:30 until time of services at the church.
