The Caldwell Watchman, August 15, 1913 
The news of the death of Mrs. W. G. Ferrand, a merchant of Columbia, which 
occurred at the residence of Dr. J. A. Biggs, at Grayson, on last Friday 
forenoon the 8th instant, came as a great shock to the community, and cast a 
pall of sorrow over the entire neighborhood. He[r] remains were interred in the 
local cemetery Saturday afternoon, and the attendance on the funeral was large 
despite the enclement weather.

Mrs. Ferrand before marriage was Miss Nettie Wright, daughter of the late Dr. J. 
E. Wright of this parish. She passed away at the age of 37 years, her whole life 
having been spent in Caldwell, and she was loved and greatly respected by 
everyone.

Much of her life was spent in teaching, and after marriage she rendered 
invaluable service to the cause of charity and benevolent organizations; living 
a beautiful, unassuming Christian life from early childhood.

Mary Henrietta Wright Ferrand and her husband, William Grammont Ferrand are buried 
in Columbia Hill Cemetery.
