Gough June 1980 Funeral services for Newton T. Gough, 71, of 2140 Evelyn St. in Lake Charles were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 15, in Hixon Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Charles. Dr. Benedict Galloway, pastor of First Methodist Church, of which Mr. Gough was an active member, officiated. Graveside services were at 5:30 p.m. at Nolley Memorial Cemetery in Jena. Mr. Gough died Friday, June 13, in the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. A native of Kelly, and 1927 graduate of Kelly High School, he was a resident of Lake Charles for the past 38 years, and worked for Southern Pacific Railroad Company for 32 years before his retirement in 1974. He was an active member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irmaile Stone Gough; two sons, Bob Gough of Groves, Texas, Rick Gough of Lake Charles; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Lynn Pomfert of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; his mother, Mrs. Lessie Gough of Dumas, Texas; one brother, Leon Gough of Sunray, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Gladys Fatheree of Lake Providence, Mrs. Velma Jo Copeland and Mrs. Vivian Porter, both of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren.
