Jay Morgan and Rev. Howard Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Mr. Dale was born in Winona, Texas on July 28, 1936 to the union of Wilbur Ernest and Ruby Cruse Dale and died Saturday, October 25, 2003 at his residence. He was Chief of Police at Grayson. He worked for Canal Barge Company for 21 years, he served for 7 years as pilot of the ferry boat at Duty Ferry, he worked 12 years for the Grayson water and sewerage, and served as Columbia Night Marshall for 2 years. He was a member of the Grayson Baptist Church, the American Legion and the Columbia Chapter of the Masonic Lodge. He also served in the Korean Conflict in the Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Joe Dale and his brother: Donald Dale and son-in-law: Loyd Shipp. Survivors include his wife: Nina Cole Dale of Grayson, his sons and daughers-in-law: Bo and Debbie Dale and Wilbur and Rhonda Dale all of Grayson, his daughter: Rhonda Dale Shipp of Hebert, his daughters and sons-in-law: Cindy and Van Sandidge of Grayson, Stacy and Elmer Myers of Winnfield, Jeannie and Jake Myers of Olla and Tammy and Roy Wise of Potella, Idaho, his sister and brother-in-law: Bettye and John Allred of Grayson, thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and a special friend: Pete May. Pallbearers will be Tony Childress, Kevin Wyles, Doug Crockett, Jack McKeithen, Billy Varnell and Mitch Bratton. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Washam, Pete May, Cliff Murphy, Bucky Butler and Bob Smith. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia.
