Harrell Tucker officiating. Interment with full masonic rites under the direction of the Charles F. Buck Masonic Lodge of Urania will follow in the Rosefield Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Mr. Hodges was born in Rosefield on December 20, 1928 to the union of Hardie and Frenchie Powell Hodges and died Sunday, August 1, 2004 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. He was a retired senior woodsman with International Paper Co., a farmer and a professional meat cutter. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines. He was also an ordained Baptist minister and pastored Rosefield Baptist Church and Temple Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. Survivors include his wife: Edna Hyde Hodges of Rosefield, his sons: John P. Hodges, Sr. and Samuel H. Hodges both of Rosefield and Joel L. Hodges of Alexandria. his daughters: Patty H. Louis of Baton Rouge, Wanda H. McNamara of Simpson, Gayla H. Urena of Pineville and Karen H. North of Alexandria, his brother: David Lane Hodges of Calhoun, his sister: Jackie H. Givan of Tupelo, Ms., fifteen grandchildren and twenty- one great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be John Hodges, Jr., Damion Hodges, Lanny Poole, Ed Wilhite, Jimmy King, Jr. and Jeff Girod. Larry Tradewell will serve as honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday until service time at Rosefield Baptist Church.
