All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Obituary of Mrs. Eva Humble The Caldwell Watchman-Progress, August 21, 1975 Mrs. Eva Lillian Humble, 85, died at Columbia Heights Nursing Home, August 15, 1975, after a lengthy illness. She was a descendant of two pioneer families, of this area. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. L. N. and Mary Nethery Humble. Her maternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. E. T. and Susan Du Bose Nethery. Her paternal grandparents were the Reverend and Mrs. T. J. and Emily Mixon Humble. Mrs. Humble was the widow of the late Henry C. Humble who predeceased her by many years. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Grupe, of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Ruth Bradshaw and Miss Harriet C. Humble, of Columbia and a son, Richard Humble, of Lafayette; two granddaughters, one grandson and two great- grandsons. Mrs. Humble was a former teacher of Caldwell Parish and a member of Louisiana and National Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed a wide range of interests among which were crafts, painting, nature study and Horticulture. She was a member of The American Camelia Society and a charter member of the Columbia Garden Club. Funeral services were in the Chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 1975 with Mr. W. W. Causey, Sr. officiating. Interment followed at the family plot at Old Bethel Cemetery, west of Clarks.
