M. Irwin of this city, died Saturday night around 10:45 P. M. in Morgan City, where he had resided for the past seven years. His death came in a Morgan City hospital after he had been operated on for appendicitis and complications set in. He was 36 years old. Funeral services were conducted here at the First Methodist church, with Rev. J. D. Kitchingham, Rev. Guy F. Winstead and the pastor, Rev. E. P. Drake, in charge of the services. Interment was made in the Columbia cemetery December 22 at 3:00 P. M. Pallbearers were W. B. Reitzell, Jr., John R. Hawkins, A. J. Coates, Robert E. Lee, V. M. Mouser and R. O. Cummings. Mr. Irwin was reared in Caldwell parish, finishing high school here and later took up studies at LSU. He has been employed by the government as civil engineer and stationed at Morgan City for the past seven years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Brown Irwin, and son, Alton Roland Brown, aged 9; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Irwin. he also leaves a host of friends who regret very much to hear of his death.
