Services for Jack D. Johnston, 60, of Columbia were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, 
December 9, 1993 at the First Baptist Church in Columbia with Rev. Julius 
Russell and Rev. Allen Miller officiating. Interment followed in the Welcome 
Home Cemetery in Grayson under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of 
Columbia. Mr. Johnston was born October 20, 1933 in Winn Parish and died 
Tuesday at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was a retired 
supervisor with La. Power and Light Co., a veteran of the Korean Conflict, a 
former member of the Columbia Lions Club and a member of the Columbia Heights 
Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Velma 
Johnston. Survivors include his wife: DeWanna May Johnston of Columbia, his 
son: Terry Lynn Johnston of Pineville, his daughter and son-in-law: Tonyah and 
Lynn Meredith of Grayson, his brothers: Lloyd Johnston and Billy Johnston both 
of West Monroe, his sisters: Lorene Coates and Chlotine Crain both of 
Columbia, his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Waymon and Vivian May of 
Grayson. Pallbearers were Jackie Barrett, Gerald Childress, Cedric Chapman, 
Don Davis, Carl Comeaux and L.C. Littlefield. Honorary pallbearers were Norman 
Coates, Marcus Thornhill, Raymond Franklin, Lamar Simmons, Reggie Smith and 
Bob Gregory. Any planned memorials may be made to the Lloyd Johnston Medical 
Fund, % 1st National Bank, 500 Natchitoches St., West Monroe, La., 71291 Acct.
