Johnson, 82, of 2204 Highland Dr. Monroe, in the chapel of Mulhearn's Funeral Home of Monroe with the Rev. Edgar L. Wiggins officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Johnson died Friday at St. Francis Hospital after a short illness. A native of Sikes, Mr. Johnson had lived in Monroe for the past 24 years. He was retired from the lumber and logging business in Clarks. He was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Sarah Jane Johnston, of Monroe, three daughters, Mrs. H. C. Nichols, Mrs. M. J. Carbone and Mrs. Charles Penn, all of Monroe, four sons, Clarence Johnston, Elton Johnston, L. V. Johnston, all of Monroe, and R. L. Johnston, of Vidalia, one sister, Mrs. Levie Martin, of Jonesboro, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Billy Johnston, Jimmie Johnston, Clifford Johnston, Glenn Edward Johnston, Rayford Johnston, and Charles Penn III. Honorary pallbearers were the nephews.
