COLUMBIA, LA. - Services for Mr. Riley James "Jake" Powell, age 86, of Columbia, will be at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, January 5, 1994, from the Columbia Chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. 
Robert Myatt and Rev. Julius Russell officiating.  Masonic graveside services will follow in the 
Columbia Hill Cemetery in Columbia.

Mr. Powell died Tuesday, January 4, 1994, at the Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Columbia following 
an extended illness.

Mr. Powell, a retired business man, was a lifelong resident of Caldwell Parish, and a member of 
the First Church of God in Columbia.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Powell was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mellie Powell, and a son, Mr. Riley Gene Powell.

Survivors include two sons: Mr. Earl Wayne Powell of Baton Rouge, La, and Dale Powell of Columbia;
a nephew, Mr. John W. Powell of Liddieville, LA; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; three 
sisters, Mrs. Theresa Simon, Mrs. Daisy Underwood, and Mrs. Juanita Wright, all of Liddieville, LA; 
two brothers: Mr. C. L. Norman of West Monroe, and Mr. Nathan Norman of Liddieville.

Members of the Masonic Lodge will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation hours for Wednesday will be from 8 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, any planned memorials should be made to the Columbia Hill Cemetery Fund, 
PO Box 536, Columbia, LA, 71418.

(NOTE:  Riley James "Jake" POWELL was born December 1, 1907, Catahoula Parish LA, to William D. 
Powell and Rosa Lennard McBroom. He married Mellie R. Mitchell on August 6, 1928.)
