Eason, Sr. October 30, 2003 Services for Johnny W. Eason, Sr., age 75, of Clarks will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2003 at the Old Bethel Baptist Church west of Clarks with Rev. Ed Smith and Rev. Benton Moore officiating. Interment with masonic graveside rites under the direction of Clarks Masonic Lodge #382 will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Eason was born in Clarks on February 27, 1928 to the union of Almon and Catherine Haynes Eason and died Monday, October 27, 2003 at the Willis-Knighten Medical Center in Bossier City. He was a graduate of Clarks High School class of 1945, he played college football at Southwestern College in Lafayette and was a 1949 graduate of Northwestern State College in Natchitoches. In 1959 he received his law degree from Centenary College in Shreveport. Mr. Eason was a retired director of purchasing with the City of Shreveport. After his retirement, he moved back to Clarks where he is currently in his third term as mayor of Clarks. He is a member of the Clarks Baptist Church and the Clarks Masonic Lodge #382 where he served as a Past Master. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the Army. Survivors include his wife of 52 years: Earline Allen Eason of Clarks, his sons: Johnny Wyatt Eason, Jr. and his wife Sheryl of Baton Rouge and Mark Allen Eason and his wife: Linda of Flower Mound, Texas, his granchildren; Justin Mark Eason, Jennifer Marie Eason, Jessica Ferris Eason and Jacob Anthony Eason, his mother-in-law: Odell Cheek Allen of Clarks, his brothers: Arnold Eason and his wife; Ruby of Tallulah, and Vernon Eason and his wife: Mary Ann of Logansport, his sister: Billie Catherine Mizell and her husband: Shelton of Springhill, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Murphy and Betty Ballard of Clarks and R.H. Allen and Wanda of Memphis, Tn. and a host of neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Opie Eason Waldrop and Margaret Eason Price. Pallbearers will be Jerry Mobley, Paul Douglas, Bill Thompson, Billy Head, Fred Grant and Steve May. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers-in-law: R.H. Allen, Murphy Ballard and Shelton Mizell. Others are Glenn Ainsworth, James Albert McDaniel, Curtis Richardson, A.J. Douglas, Bill Taylor and B-Line Exline. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia and Thursday from noon until time of services at the Old Bethel Baptist Church.
