Headline: Columbia Man Died Monday In Local Hospital
Ellis U. Kelly, 89-year-old Columbia resident, died early on Monday morning in 
the Columbia Heights Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were 
held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church of Columbia with the 
Rev. John D. Kitcham officiating. Burial was made in Welcome Home Cemetery, 
near Grayson, under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral home of Columbia. 
Mr. Ellis was a native of Winn Parish, but had been residing in this community 
for many years. At the time of his death he was residing on the Riser Loop 
Road.  Survivors include his widow, Mrs. E. U. Kelly of Columbia; four sons: 
Victor Kelly and Veston Kelly, both of West Monroe; Ellis Brown Kelly of 
Albuquerque, New Mexico; and J.J. Kelly of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. 
Clifford Kennedy of Joillet, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren.

Ellis was married to Frances B. "Beatrice" WILLIS.
