Services for Ruben B. Lane, age 75, of Grayson will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 18, 2005 from the Grayson Baptist Church in Grayson with Rev. Jay Morgan and Rev. James Carson officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcom Home Cemetery in Grayson. Mr. Lane was born on October 19, 1929 in Prentiss, MS, to the union of Garvin and Myrtis Langston Lane and died Monday, May 16, 2005 at his residence in Grayson. He retired from Texas Gas Transmission Corp. in January, 1992 having worked for 36 years. He was currently employed by the Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Office for the past 8 1/2 years. He was a member of the Columbia Heights Baptist Church and was a member and Past Master of Clarks Masonic Lodge #382 in Clarks. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the Air Force from 1950 until 1954. Survivors includes his wife of 53 years: Dorothy Tedder Lane of Grayson, his sons and daugthers-in-law: Kenneth and Teresa Lane of Grayson and Terry and Rhonda Lane of Shreveport, his grandchildren: Kristi Lane, Christopher Lane, Jeffrey Lane, Britney Lane and Curt Lane, and his great-grandson: Ethan Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Lester Lane and Gerald Lane. Pallbearers will be Christopher Lane, Curt Lane, Ethan Lane, M. H. "Pete" Jenkins, Steve May and James Ned Goff. Honorary pallbearers are Maurice Mercer, Lee Brown, Fred Grant, Russell Price and all employees of Texas Gas Transmission Corp. and the Caldwell Parish Sheriff's Office. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services at Grayson Baptist Church.
