Obituary:  Lorraine F. Duplissey
December 5, 2003

Services for Lorraine Furlow Duplissey, age 76 of Columbia will
be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2003 from the chapel of
Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Brian Rankin officiating.  
Don Davis will deliver the eulogy.  Interment will follow in
the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.
   
Mr. Duplissey, affectionately known to his family as "Pops" and
to his friends as "Mr. D." was born in Columbia on February 2, 1927
to the union of Jerry M. and Inez Furlow Duplissey and died Tuesday, 
December 2, 2003 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia.
   
He was retired with the Department of Public Safety.  He was a
member of the First Baptist Church in Columbia and a veteran of
World War II, having served in the Army and the Merchant Marines.
   
Mr. Duplissey was very active in the Caldwell Parish High School
sports and Caldwell Dixie Youth Ball.  He was honored to have the
Caldwell Dixie Youth ball field named the “Lorraine F. Duplissey
Field “
   
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law: Rick and Susan
Duplissey, Buster and Tammy Duplissey  all of Columbia and Gary
and Helen Duplissey of Dallas, Texas, his brother: J.M. Duplissey, Jr.
and his wife: Ruby of Columbia, and his grandchildren: Derrick Duplissey, 
Caleb Duplissey, Ashley Duplissey, Coty Ingle, David Duplissey,
Brittney Duplissey, Brett Duplissey, Lauren Duplissey and Doyle Dup-
lissey.
   Pallbearers will be Clay Bennett, Bob Frazier, Kerry Thompson, Gary
May, Charles Thompson and Hershel Volentine.
   
Honorary pallbearers will be R. L. Warner, J. R. Walters and Wilbur
Rucker.
   
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Friday from
8 a.m. until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, 
Columbia.
