All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Obituary: Lenore Margaret Lewellyan January 6, 2003 Memorial services for Lenore Margaret Lewellyan, 51, of Columbia will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, January 6, 2003 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Father Dwight Jesus officiating. Interment will be private at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Chicago, Ill. Lenore was a resource teacher at Kelly Elementary School in Caldwell Parish. She received Bachelor and Masters degrees of Education from University of Louisiana at Monroe {formerly NLU} after taking undergraduate coursework at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. Lenore died in a car accident on December 31, 2002 in Grenada,Ms. She was a well-loved teacher and enjoyed her students sporting events and other after school activities. She coached sports teams and assisted in the library at the school. She was instrumental in setting up computers for use by students in the classroom. When Kelly Elementaty School burned down, she was able to secure donations of several thousand books for classrooms and the library. She was an outspoken proponent of inclusive education for all students. Though born and raised in Chicago, Illinois area she grew to love Louisiana during visits to her fathers birthplace. She lived in the family homestead and was an active participant in many community events. She was a loving sister to Ann [Kai] Koskinen, Robert, Gail [Mark] Johnson, Joan [Richard] Fay, Kay, David [Gina] , Richard [Kim] and an extraordinary aunt to 12. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Hebert "Red" and Lenore Lewellyan, a sister, Lora and a brother, Brian. She also leaves numerous other relatives and dear friends in the area. As she was fortunate to be the recipient of a liver transplant in 1998, her family asks to please mark your drivers license to be an organ donor. Visitation will be Monday from 3:30 p.m. until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, Hwy 165, Columbia, La.
