All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Obituary: Louise Tilley Rowan March 8, 2004 Services for Louise Tilley Rowan, age 95, of Columbia will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 8, 2004 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Pamela Roy officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Mrs. Rowan was born in Jacksonville, Texas on October 11, 1908 to the union of Emmett and Ammye Tilley and died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. She grew up in Jacksonville, Texas where her father was a Railroad conductor for the Texas & Pacific Railroad. She attended The University of Arizona and the University of Texas in Austin. On June 21, 1931 she married Charles Samuel Rowan of Mineola, Texas. She moved from Little Rock, Arkansas in 1948 to Caldwell Parish, where she resided for the past 56 years. She was retired from the Columbia Heights Hospital and a former Blue Cross Insurance agent. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbia for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: Charles Samuel Rowan. Survivors include her son: Charles E. Rowan of West Monroe, two brothers and sisters-in-law: Gene and Lucille Tilley of Dallas, Texas and Edward and Amelia Tilley of Texas City, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Bill Reitzammer, Mike Canter, Robert Stewart, Phillip Wilkins, Dr. E.D. Coates and Blake Adams, Jr. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m until 6 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia.
