Sheriff G.E. Erskine said that Langley has not been charged following investigation into the death of Odis May, a resident of ward nine. According to the Sheriff, Langley was living in May's sister's house in ward nine and in a drunken rage threatened to burn the building and kill "everybody." May is said to have gone to the house to stay with Langley, apparently to prevent carrying out of the threat. Following the fire which destroyed the house and burned May to death early Sunday morning, May's brother, R.I. May, Jr. testified before the coroner's jury that he saw Langley set fire to the building. Funeral services for Mr. May, who was 58 years old, were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Hickory Springs Baptist Church in Jackson Parish with the Rev. A.A. Calhoun of Columbia Heights in charge. Interment was made in the nearby church cemetery under the direction of the Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Mr. May was not married but is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. I. May, Sr., of ward 9; six sisters; Mrs. Mary Cole of Bossier City, Mrs. Clifford Wells of Ruston, Mrs. Gladys Broom of ward 9, Mrs. Sam West, also of ward 9, Mrs. Cassie McBroom of Kinder and Mrs. E.
