May, age 84, of Grayson were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, 1997, from the Columbia chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Duke officiating. Interment followed in the Crossroads Cemetery west of Grayson. Mrs. May, a homemaker, died Saturday, March 29, 1997 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe following an extended illness. Gladys Anne May was born on July 27, 1912 at Sikes to the union of John and Emma Crain Parker. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Mrs. May was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie May; and her daughter, Mrs. Helen May Adkins; and three grandsons, Charles Ray, Kenneth, and Terry Adkins. Survivors include: two sons, John May and Ronnie May, both of Grayson; one sister, Mrs. Verlie Dartlone of Clarks; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Harold May, Billy Joe May, Thurman May, Ricky Ratcliff, Elbert Lee Pauley, and Mac Calhoun. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons: Jeff May, Jesse Ray May, John May, Jerry Lynn Adkins, Mason Adkins, Brooks Adkins, Bo Dale and Brian Sanders.
