All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Obituary: Mary Eva Humble Grupe January 18, 2004 Graveside services for Mary Eva Humble Grupe, age 91, of Columbia will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, January 18, 2004 at the Old Bethel Cemetery west of Clarks with Rev. Tommy Basco officiating. Mrs. Grupe was born on January 6, 1913 in Little Rock, Ar. to the union of Henry Clyde and Eva Lillian Humble and died Thursday, January 15, 2004 at her residence. Mary graduated from high school in Caldwell Parish and moved to Dallas, Texas to further her education. She worked there, married and lived in Dallas until April 2000, when she moved back to Columbia. Her hobbies included cooking, and she was an avid gardener, painting many of the beautiful flowers. She frequently exhibited her work at art shows in Dallas and won many awards such as Best of Show and Best Liked Painting. She exhibited some of her work at the Schepis Museum in Columbia. During her last years she enjoyed the slow pace of small town living and often said she had the best neighbors in the world. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Ruth Humble Bradshaw and her brother, Henry Richard Humble. Survivors include her sister: Harriett C. Humble of Columbia, her neices, Michele Bradshaw Bradford of Austin, Texas, and Carolyn Humble Hedges of Bossier City, her nephew, Vern J. Funderburk of Arlington, Texas, two great neices and four great nephews. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia, La.
