Nelson, age 81 of Grayson will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 9, 2005 from the Cross Roads Baptist Church, west of Grayson with Rev. Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow in the Cross Roads Cemetery. Mr. Nelson was born on May 19, 1923 in Caldwell Parish to the union of John Henry and Alice Whittington Nelson and died Thursday, January 7, 2005 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. He was a retired carman with the Missouri Pacific Railroad and a veteran of World War II having served in the Army. He was also a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Clifton Nelson. Survivors include his wife of 56 years Louise Parker Nelson of Grayson, his sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Cheryl Nelson of Grayson and Larry and Jamilu Nelson of Dyersburg, TN; his grandchildren: Wesley Nelson, Traci Babusek, Kacey Harrell and Melissa Moreland; five great- grandchildren and his sisters: Zelma Hightower of Grayson and Margie Lowe of West Monroe. Pallbearers will be Henry Lee Nelson, Earl Nelson, Bobby Joe Mercer, Eloy Washer and Johnnie Hester. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM until noon at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia.
