Services for Mrs. Syble A. Powell, 69 of Kelly were 2 p.m., Monday, January 
21, at the Adams Cemetery in Kelly with the Rev. Jim Goodman officiating.  
Services were under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.  Mrs. Syble 
Alleen James Powell was born on November 28, 1932 at Birta, Arkansas to the 
union of her parents, the late Alma Nelson and Edith Tackett James.  She was a 
member of the Kelly Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband 
William David Powell.  Mrs. Powell died Saturday, January 19, 2002 at the 
North Monroe Hospital in Monroe following an extended illness.  Survivors 
include three sons, Dave Powell, B.J. Powell, and Andrew Powell, all of Kelly; 
one daughter, Vicky Dickey of Kelly; two brothers, A.N. James, Jr. of Kelly 
and Oliver Clinton James of Opelousas; and one sister, Mrs. Bonnie Bratton of 
Kelly.
