Kelly Resident is Laid to Rest Last Monday

Jess M. Powell, 75, of Kelly, died Sunday in a Columbia hospital after a long 
illness.

Funeral services were at 2:30 Monday at the Kelly Baptist Church with Rev. W. 
A. Massey, former paster, and Rev. Franklin Jones, present pastor, 
officiating.

Burial was at the Pine Hill Cemetery near Olla under direction of Riser and 
Son Funeral Home of Columbia

A native of Rapides Parish, Mr Powell was a retired logger and farmer.

Survivors include his widow: Mrs Maudine Powell, Kelly; five daughters, Mrs 
Opal Starnes, Grayson, Mrs Helen Young and Mrs Bobbye Hendrix, both of Kelly, 
Mrs Jessie Martin and Mrs Ann Mitchell, both of West Monroe; a son, SSgt Bill 
Powell, stationed at Marksville Air Force Base; a half-sister, Mrs Evie 
McBroom, Olla; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
