Mr. Cranston was born on October 18, 1928 in Sanford, Fl. to the union of John Alexander and Agnes Moore Cranston and died Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the Whetstone Gardens Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was a retired school administrator with the Catahoula Parish School System. Dad enjoyed over 39 years of marriage to our mother, Sibyl. After her death, he was blessed to marry Phyllis who was a faithful wife and companion for over 11 years until his own demise. In addition to Phyllis' son, Allen Schaffer and his wife Marion, "Grandpa Ralph" is survived by two sons: Lamar Cranston and his wife, Lisa and Philip Cranston, five granddaughters and five great-grandchildren. His survivors also include two brothers: Robert Cranston and his wife, Carolyn and Frank Cranston and his wife, Ardyce. Ralph was a member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ohio. He has been active in his church, Masonic Lodge, professional education groups, and other civic groups throughout most of his life. Most importantly, he daily lived out the love of our Lord Jesus Christ as a Christian son, husband, father, brother, neighbor and friend. His genuine smile, encouraging word, and readiness to help others all bear testimony to the character of this man and his faith. Dad's favorite scripture was from Psalms 19:1: "Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m.until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy. 165, Columbia, La.
