Richmond, Jr., age 74 of Columbia will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2004 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jimmy Goodman officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery west of Clarks. Mr. Richmond was born in the Old Ward 5 Community of Caldwell Parish on January 18, 1930 to the union of Charley and Ivy Boyd Richmond and died Sunday, October 31, 2004 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Alexandria. He was a disabled veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps on April 18, 1948 and was discharged in September of 1950. He received two Purple Hearts in his time of service. He was also a member of the Bellview Baptist Church and also served two terms as a Police Jury for Caldwell Parish. Survivors include his wife: Rosey Thomas Richmond of Columbia, his sons: Edward Richmond and his wife: Darcy of Gonzales, Charles A. Richmond and his wife: Sharon of Columbia, Ronald Dean Richmond of Biloxi, Ms., Henry Richmond of Columbia and David Richmond and his wife: Joan of Lafayette, his grandchildren: Edward Jr., Jordyn, Chuck, Jonathan, Justin, Romona, Brooke, Christopher, Nicole and Ashley, and his great-grandson: Hunter. Pallbearers will be Chuck Richmond, Justin Richmond, Christopher Richmond, Jonathan Richmond, Edward Richmond, Mickey Lott, Mark Cubbit and Robert Cubbit. Any planned memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Unit, Ward 45A, Veterans Administration Medical Center, P.O.Box 69004, Alexandria, La. 71306-9004. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of services at Riser Funeral Home, 7131 Hwy 165, Columbia.
