All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Obituary of Mrs. Ruby Riser Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Upshaw Riser, 63, of Columbia were held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Columbia First Baptist Church with Oscar Bradford officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jimmie Bolton and Milton Sargent. Burial was in Welcome Home Cemetery under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia. Mrs. Riser, owner of the Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia, died Tuesday at Caldwell Hospital in Columbia after a brief illness. Mrs. Riser was an active member of the Columbia Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by the late Monor Riser, founder of Riser and Son Funeral Home. Mrs. Riser later founded Riser Flower Shop and served as its owner and manager until the time of her death. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Delaine Riser Gunn of Columbia; one son, Neil Riser of Columbia; five sisters, Mrs. Annie Bell Risinger of El Dorado, Arkansas, Mrs. Gladys Everett of Port Arthur, Texas, Mrs. Berdelle Causey of Marion, Mrs. Dorothy Slaughter of Ball and Mrs. Margie Wade of Farmerville; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Pallbearers included Dr. Linus Carroll, Billy Wallace, Eddie McClary, Max Shores, Glenn Meredith, B. L. Fisher, Leonard Gregory and Jackie Barrett.
