The Caldwell Watchman, Columbia LA, 16 Apr 1986
Funeral services for Mr. James Vernon Starnes, age 83 of Grayson were held 
Saturday, April 12th, 2 P.M. at the Chapel of Riser & Son with the Rev. E. D. 
Dearmon officiating.  Burial followed in the Roberts Cemetery under the 
direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia.  Mr. Starnes died April 
10th at the Pointe Coupee General Hospital, New Roads, after a short illness.  
Survivors include 3 sons, Mr. William J. Starnes, Ervinville, Mr. Vernon B. 
Starnes, Olla, and Mr. Otis McCoy Starnes, Pascagoula, Miss.; 1 daughter, Mrs. 
Mary Busby, Grayson; 3 brothers, Mr. Alfred C. Starnes, Columbia, Mr. Clay 
Starnes, Grayson, and Mr. Clayton Starnes, Sikes.  There were 11 grandchildren 
and 10 great grandchildren.
