Obituary of Joe Smith
The Caldwell Watchman, April 19, 1973

Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Old Bethel 
Cemetery, about four miles west of Clarks, for Joseph (Joe) Smith.  Rev.
LaVelle Crain of the Ward 6 community was in charge.

Mr. Smith died last Friday at the Haven Nursing Home in Columbia Heights
after a brief illness.  Interment was made in the Old Bethel Cemetery 
under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia.

Mr. Smith was 76 years of age and was a former saw mill worker and came to 
Clarks from Fisher.  Several years ago he moved to The Haven where he 
resided until his death Saturday.

Amont the survivors are a brother, Jesse Smith of Alexandria, and two 
sisters, Mrs. Bessie Williams of Alexandria and Mrs. Dora Courtney of 
Denham Springs.
