All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Obituary of Dan Snipe The Caldwell Watchman, January 17, 1974 Dan Snipe, 113-years-old, died Tuesday at Lincoln General Hospital here after a short illness. Mr. Snipe was born October 5, 1860 in Thomastown, Georgia, in Lyons County. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He moved to the Ruston area in 1908 and purchased a farm near here. He also operated a sawmill on the farm located off the Ruston-Vernon Road south of here. A daughter is Mrs. George Harris who resides on State Route 4, about five miles west of Columbia. Mrs. Arvie Foley of Abbey, Texas, is his oldest surviving child at 65 years of age. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home here with the Rev. J. W. Lipscomb officiating. Burial will be in Riser Cemetery here. Other survivors include five sons, King Snipe, Gus Snipe and Ed Snipe, all of Ruston, Dan Snipe, Jr., of Grand Prairie, Texas and Johnny Snipe of Shreveport; another daughter, Mrs. George (Bell) Harris of Columbia; 34 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren.
