TANNER,aged about 45 years. - Mr. Tanner was a native of Buckingham County, Va., but many years since removed to the State of Alabama, whence he emigrated, in the year 1849, to Jackson Parish, La., where he continued to reside up to the time of his death. he was on his return home from a somewhat protracted visit to his friends in Virginia and Alabama, and had reached Pine Bluff, on the Ouachita River, within thirty miles of his residence, when both he and his estimable wife were attacked by yellow fever, contracted, no doubt, in passing through New Orleans. he survived the attack five days and died; she, we are happy to say, is convalescent. The numerous friends of the deceased in Virginia may rest assured that all that the best medical skill and the assiduous attention of friends could do, was cheerfully and unremittingly rendered. he leaves a large number of warm and devoted friends in the Parish of his residence, in which he was, at the time of his death, the candidate of his party for the office of Sheriff, with the most flattering prospect of a triumphant election. Peace to his ashes! H. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/caldwell/obits/t/tanner6254gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/lafiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
