Interment followed in the Old Union Cemetery in Cotton Plant. Mr. Thomas was born on June 12, 1915 in the old Ward Five Community, and died on September 4, 1995 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. He was a life-long resident of Caldwell Parish, and was retired from the Department of Transportation and Development. He was also a veteran of World War II. Survivors include: his wife, Annie Mae West Thomas of Grayson; two daughters, Marie Childress and Sandy Murphy, both of Grayson; two sisters, Louise Fisher of Columbia and Agatha Vincent of McGhee, Arkansas; and five grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Jody Fisher, Jimmy Lee West, Eloy Washer, Red Roberts, Marshall Braddock, and Eual West. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons: Keith Childress and Melton May.
