OBITUARY: The Caldwell Watchman-Progress, Columbia LA, 28 Sep 1962
Headline: Aged Grayson Woman Died On Wednesday
Mrs. Zona Thomas, 76 year old resident of Grayson and a sister of Mrs. Inez 
Duplissey, who owns and operates the Columbia Newsstand, died unexpectedly at 
her home Wednesday afternoon of last week.  Her death was attributed to a 
heart attack and occurred the same day a nephew’s wife, Mrs. Lorraine 
Duplissey, was buried.  Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday in 
Grayson Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Bolton, pastor of the First Baptist 
Church of Columbia, and the Rev. J. D. Kitchingham of Columbia Eastside. 
Burial was made in Welcome Home Cemetery, east of Grayson on the Holum Road, 
under the direction of the Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia.  Survivors 
include her husband, W. Z. Thomas of Grayson; two daughters, Mrs. R. A. 
Vincent of McGehee, Ark. And Mrs. Sherman Fisher of Shreveport; two sons: 
Bowen Thomas of Grayson and William S. Thomas of New Orleans; three sisters: 
Mrs. Lula Dollar of Houston, Tex., Mrs. John McClusky of near Swartz, and Mrs. 
Duplissey of the Eastside; three brothers, Luther Furlow of Monroe, Robert C. 
Furlow of Idabell, Okla., and Hines Furlow of Broadwick, Calif.; and six 
grandchildren. Two brothers, Bud Furlow and Bodine Furlow, both residents of 
ward five where Mrs. Thomas also at one time resided, preceded her in death.
