The News-Star, Monroe
Clarks – Services for Solon West, 77, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the Riser 
and Sun Funeral Home in Columbia with the Rev. Richard Blue officiating.  
Burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery near Columbia under the direction of 
the funeral home.  He died Tuesday at the Citizen’s Medical Center in Columbia 
after a long illness.  He was a member of the Old Union Baptist Church and a 
lifelong resident of Caldwell Parish.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie 
West of Clarks; one son, Jimmy Lee West of Clarks; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara 
Waters of New York; two brothers, Ted West and Sam West, both of Grayson; one 
sister, Mrs. Annie Mae Thomas of Grayson; five grandchildren and one great-
grandchild.
