Jim McKeithen and Rev. Kent Nugent officiating. Interment will follow in the Sandy Bayou Cemetery. William Melvin Beckley was born in Ouachita Parish on June 19, 1924 to the union of WM and Ella Taylor Beckley and died Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at the Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. He was a retired crane operator with Penrod Drilling Co. He was a veteran of World War II having served in both the Army and Marines. He was also a member of the Sandy Bayou Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Patsy Slatten Beckley, his son: Danny Redden and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: William and Myrtis Slatten. Survivors include his sons: Sammy Redden of Bellmont, N.C. and Tommy Beckley of Memphis, Tn., his daughter: Mary Ann Hall of Grayson, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Beaver Beckley, Pee Wee Beckley, Jackie Beckley, Russell Beckley, Stevie Beckley, James Cook and Kevin Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be John Denmon, Terry Denmon, Michael Washington and Danny Nugent. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and 1:30 p.m. until time of services at the church.
