To any ordained Minister of the gospel or to any Justice of the Peace 
authorized to celebrate marriages in said Parish Greetings
You are hereby authorized and fully empowered to unite in the Bonds of 
Matremony and Holy Wedlock Mr. Robert A. Grant and Miss. Emily J. Coates both 
residences of the State aforesaid and to celebrate and Soleminize the said 
marriage between the parties as above mentioned agreeably to the Laws and 
customs of the Sate of Louisiana and make your return hereof as the Law directs 
and this shall be your authority for so doing. 
Given under my hand this 30th day of August A.D. 1870

I hereby certify that I have this day in pursuance of the forgoing License 
celebrated and solomnized a marriage between Mr. Robert A. Grant and Miss. E. 
J. Coates according to the Laws and Customs of the State of La. In faith 
whereof I have togethrt with the parties and the undersigned witnesses signed 
these presents on this 1 day of September 1870.
