Snow Parrish Judge STATE OF LOUISIANA PARRISH OF CALDWELL I do hereby certify that I have by issuance of the foregoing license celebrated and solemnized a marriage between Mr. Richard Nelson and Ms St.Helena Barrett agreeably to the laws and customs of the State of Louisiana --------------------------------------------------------- In testimony whereof the parties have hereunto signed his name in presence of the undersigned witnesses who have also signed with the parties and me the said Nathan M. Davis, ordained minister ____ on this ____ day of May, 1842. WITNESSES: Richard Nelson Hiram Parker St.Helena Barrett X Henry Hart James Pool Additional Comments: The date May 6, 1842 is used due to the date of the actual marriage is not entered but the license was returned to the courthouse on 12-10-1842 The witnesses names are very hard to read....years ago one of the ladies at the Courthouse told me that these were the names listed and on another record in a book where James Pool was on the marriage record "Jimy Pool" was written. Richard Nelson signed his name but St.Helena Barrett signed with an X. They are listed on the 1850 Jackson Parrish Louisiana Federal Census.
