Marriage License dated April 30, 1870
State of Louisiana, Parish of Ouachita, 14Th district Court.  To any ordained 
Minister of the Gospel, or to any Justice of the Peace, Greetings:
You are hereby authorized and empowered to write in the BONDS OF MATRIMONY AND 
HOLY WEDLOCK, Mr. Jos. Kirkland and Miss Emily L. Ruffin both residents of the 
State aforesaid, and to solemnize and celebrate the said Marriage between said 
Parties, according to the Laws and Customs of this State, and make your return 
hereof, as the Law directs, and this your authority for so doing.  Given under 
my Hand and seal of Office on this 30th day of April, 1870.

Additional Comments:
State of Louisiana, Parish of Ouachita,  I hereby certify that I have, on this 
day, in pursuance of the foregoing License, celebrated and solemnized a 
Marriage between Mr. Joseph Kirklin and Miss Emily Ruffin agreeable to the laws 
and customs of the State of Lousiiana.  In faith whereof, I have, together with 
the parties, and the presence of the undersigned withesses, signed this present 
on this 5TH day of May 1870.
