The petition of Mrs. Parmellia Couch a resident of your said Parish and State with due respect represents unto your Honorable court that her husband Jackson S. Couch, late of your said Parish and State departed this life intestate at his residence in the said Parish of Caldwell, Louisiana on the (blank) day of (blank) AD 1876 leaving a small estate, consisting principally of property in marriage community with your petitioner, and that said estate is solvent. Represents that her said deceased husband left no descendants issue of the marriage with herself or of any other marriage. Wherefore your petitioner prays your Honorable court to grant her an order for an Inventory and appraisement and that you cause an inventory and appraisement to be made of all the property real and personal rights and credits belonging to and composing the Succession of Jackson S. Couch dec'd by the Parish Recorder of the Parish of Caldwell and that he make due return of said Inventory to your Hon. Court. Petitioner prays for all such orders and decrees as may be necessary in the premises and for full and general relief. Parmella Couch in propria personam State of Louisiana, Parish of Caldwell: Be it Remembered that on this the 27th day of November 1876 that I G.Yarborough, Parish Recorder Ex Officio Notary Public did this day in obedience to an order issues out of the Hand Parish Probate Court to me directs commissioning me said Recorder to take an Inventory and Cause and appraisement to be made of all the Property real & Personal rights - & Credits comprising the Estate & succession of Jackson S. Couch dec'd late of said Parish & State, and in obedience to said order I did this day proceed in the Town of Columbia, LA to make said Inventory & appraisement & for appraisers I have selected J.G. Curry & A.J. Whittington who after being dully sworn did proceed with me, said Recorder, & made the following appraisement : 220 acres of land more or less with all improvements thereon $440.00 2 old Horses @ $15 each 30.00 7 Head Cattle more or less 60.00 18 head sheep 27.00 20 head Hogs 40.00 1 Lot Farming Utensils 6.00 1 old shot gun 2.50 $605.50 In testimony whereof the said appraisers have hereto signed their names in the presence of the undersigned competent witnesses & me Recorder & Notary on this the 27th day Nov 1876.
