Couch, a resident of said Parish of Caldwell in the said state with respect represents to your honor that Sarah Weatherford died in the said Parish of Caldwell in the said state of Louisiana sometime during the year 1860. That she left surviving children as follows: Patience Sterns, Richard Weatherford and Permellia Couch wife of your petitioner and that the Heirs of J. Weatherford and the heirs of WIlliam J. Weatherford also a son of the said Sarah Weatherford dec'd are also joint heirs of the said Sarah J. Weatherford dec'd. The heirs of Jo.Weatherford and the heirs of William J. Weatherford and Patience Sterns all reside in the state of Alabama and Pennelia (Permelia)Couch and Richard Weatherford reside in the Parish of Caldwell, LA. Your petitioner shows that the said Sarah Weatherford at the time of her death was possessed of a small tract forty acres of land which now belongs to her said heirs and is situated in the Parish of Caldwell and that the minor heirs are in great need of their interest and that an administration is necessary to effect a partition of the same among the said heirs. Wherefore he prays that this his application to be appointed as administrator of said Estate be duly and legally advertised and that an order be ___ed by your Honorable court directing the Recorder of the Parish of Caldwell, LA to make an inventory and cause an appraisement to be made of the said tract of land and that after due advertisement and on his complying with the requisites of the law your petitioner be appointed Administrator of said succession and after legal delay he prays for an order to sell the said tract of land and an order directing the Recorder to partition the proceeds thereof in five shares. One share to Patience Sterns, one share to the heirs of J. Weatherford, dec'd. One share to the heirs of William J. Weatherford, dec'd. One share to Richard Weatherford and one share to Parmellia Couch, wife of your Petitioner. And all other and further orders as may be necessary and for general relief ___ ___. J.J. Stringer, Atty." (filed Oct 26, 1866) State of Louisiana, Parish of Caldwell: We and each of us do solemnly swear that we will well and faithfully appraise all the property, real, personal, rights, and credits belonging to the Estate of Sarah Weatherford dec'd so far as shall be presented to us for appraisement according to the best of our ability, so help us God. Be it remembered that Charles A Breard, Parish Recorder in and for said Parish & State duly commissioned and sworn, by virtue of an order issued out after Honorable 12th Dist Court in and for said State & Parish bearing date of 8th Nov 1866 and to me directed & hereto attached, processed by me on this 8th Nov 1866 at my office in the town of Columbia, LA to make an inventory and appraisement of the property, real & personal, rights & credits, belonging to the Estate of Sarah Weatherford dec'd, late of said Parish of Caldwell & for that purpose have appointed Andrew J. Whittington and Edward T. Nethery appraisers, who after being duly sworn by me, said recorder, proceeded with me at the time and place aforesaid to made said inventory & appraisement whch is as follows to wit- Inventory Appraisement (40) Forty acres Land partially improved----- $100.00 amounting in the aggregate to One Hundred Dollars --------- In testimony whereof the said appraisers have hereto signed their names in preesence of the undersigned competent witnesses who have also attested this act with the said appraisers and me, said Recorder on this 8th day of Nov 1866.
