He retired from Louisiana Menhaden and Zapata Protein. He was a Cameron Parish sheriff's deputy for 19 years. He was a member of the Knights of St. Gregory, St. Sylvester and St. Charles. He was the chairman of St. Rose of Lima Mission. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the parish council, and he received the Bishops Medal. Survivors include his wife, Susie LaSalle of Cameron; four sons, Jimmy L. Mrs. Moore died at 8:59 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2000, in a local hospital. She was born in Creole and grew up in Big Lake. She was a longtime resident of Lake Charles. She retired from St. Patrick Hostpital as the EKG director. She had worked for many years as an EKG technician. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Survivors include one daughter, Thelma "Petie" LaBove of Big Lake; one son, Michael Moore of Lake Charles; one sister, Ruby Daigle of Lake Charles; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mr. Moore died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, April 16, 2000, in his Lacassine residence. He was a native of Hackberry and was raised in the Hayes-Bell community. He was a graduate of Bell City High School. He worked at McNeese State University for 33 years and retired as director of plant operations. He was a guitarist for the Lacassine Playboys. He was a member of the Board of Directors and Director Emeritus of the McNeese Federal Credit Union. He was a member of the Optimist Club and the Lacassine Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as a Navy "seabee" in the Aleutian Islands. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Guidry Moore; one son, Randy Moore of Lake Charles; one daughter, Sandy Papania of Lacassine; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a lifelong resident of Cameron. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Charles Academy in Lake Charles. She and her husband owned and operated Western Auto Store in Cameron for 25 years. She was a survivor of Hurricane Audrey. She was a member of Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Earl T. Mouton Sr. of Cameron; four sons, Dr. Gerald W. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday in the church. Mrs. Nash died Sunday, July 9, 2000, in a Houston care center. She was a native of Grand Chenier and lived most of her life in Houston. She was a graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School and of Texas Southern University. She retired from the Houston Independent School District after 35 years of service. She was a member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church. Survivors include two brothers, Lawrence "Bull" Nash of Houston and Emanuel "Man" Nash of Walnut, Calif.; and two sisters, Beatrice Gradney of Houston and Goldie Washington of Lake Charles. Visitation is 3-10 p.m. today in the church, with rosaries at 7, 8 and 9 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Thursday. Monsignor Vidrine died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, in a local hospital. He was a native of Chataignier. He was educated at St. Mary Home and Sacred Heart in Ville Platte from 1926-1931 and the Cathedral High School in Lafayette from 1931-1933. His priestly training began at St. Joseph Seminary in Covington from 1933-1939 and continued at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans from 1939-1945. He was ordained to the priesthood March 17, 1945, in Lafayette. His first assignment was as assistant pastor to Immaculate Conception Church in Lake Charles. He served there from 1945-1952. In 1952 he was named the founding pastor of St. Hubert Parish in Lake Charles, where he served until 1960. He was the founding pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in New Iberia from 1960-1971, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish in Church Point from 1971-1974 and Our Lady of Seven Dolors Parish in Welsh from 1974-1976. He was named pastor of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish in Cameron in 1976. He remained there until his retirement in June 1997. Pope Paul VI named him a prelate of honor with the title monsignor in 1970. He served in a variety of administrative level positions in the Diocese of Lafayette: dean of the Church Point deanery from 1971-1974 and as a regional vicar of the combined Church Point and Crowley deaneries from 1973-1974. Among other assignments during his career, he was the moderator of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women from 1960-1973. He served as a pro-synodal judge of the Diocese of Lafayette marriage Tribunal from 1972-1975. He was a 50-year member of the third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus. She graduated from LaGrange High School and attended McNeese State University and owned and operated Len Air Inc. in Lake Charles. She was a member of University United Methodist Church.
