A2 CREOLE — She was born Jan. 25, 1947, in Wichita, Kan. God took her home Thursday, June 30, 2005, after a battle with lung cancer. She lived in Oklahoma and Texas as an adult. She spent the last 25 years being the wife of Ernest Daigle Sr. in Cameron. She and Ernest shared six wonderful children, Troy Daigle, Katrina Daigle, Sheila Belcher, Ernest Daigle Jr., Zachariah Shook and Mary-Shook Jones. They were blessed with eight grandchildren, Angela Themis, Roger Themis, Alex Themis, Dustin Belcher, Dylan Belcher, Chelsea Jones, Cailyn Jones and Emmerson Sivard-Shook; and one great-grandchild, Sebastien Vincent. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Please specify the donation is for small-cell cancer research. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. today, July 2, from Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. DARBONNE, Willard Ray LCAP 08/31/05 CHOUPIQUE — The funeral for Willard Ray Darbonne, 70, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, from St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Hackberry. The Rev. Roland Vaughn will officiate. Burial with a firemans honor will be in New Hackberry Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Darbonne died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, in Christus St. Patrick Hospital after an illness. Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8 a.m. Thursday in the St. Peter Catholic Church hall. Mr. Darbonne was born on July 30, 1935, in Hackberry to Harry and Ruby Darbonne. He lived in Choupique for 43 years. Mr. Darbonne was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church of Hackberry, where he was grand nnight with Knights of Columbus Council 11576. Mr. Darbonne was employed with Firestone as a pipefitter for 13 years. He then was employed as a foreman with Austin Industries and Livingston Engineers and retired from IMC as a pipefitter in 1996. Mr. Darbonne worked as a volunteer firefighter and fire chief until 1996 with the Carlyss Fire Department. He retired after 25 years of service. He worked as a security guard with Brimstone Securities, and he was in the reserves with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Darbonne served on the cemetery board for the Hackberry Cemetery Association, and he was the caretaker of Landry Cemetery in Choupique. He was a member of the Sulphur High School, Choupique and Hackberry rodeo clubs and of the Choupique Youth Rodeo. He was a No. 1 Sulphur High School Lady Tor soccer fan. Pallbearers will be provided by the surrounding fire departments. Survivors include his wife, Rose Quebodeaux Darbonne of Choupique; four daughters, Bonnie Darbonne Tullos and Janice Darbonne Constance and husband Robert, all of Carlyss, Tina Darbonne Landy and husband George of Hackberry, and Stephanie Darbonne of Carlyss; two sisters, Barbara Ann Perry and husband Gerald of Sulphur and Diane Darbonne Rountree and husband Steve of Lafayette; one brother, Carl “Pete” Darbonne and wife Gail of Carlyss; and five grandchildren, Jessica Sanner, Cody Constance, Chelsie Constance, Johnathan Landry and Jaron Landry. He was preceded in death by one brother, J.D. Darbonne. DELANEY, Darrell J. LCAP 09/02/05 BIG LAKE — Darrell Junius Delaney, 56, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, in his residence. He was a native of Lake Charles and a longtime resident of Big Lake. Darrell attended Landry Memorial High School, where he was a member of the 1965 State Championship Football Team. He was a 1968 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. Darrell was a former Calcasieu Parish sheriff’s deputy and was employed by Consolidated Aluminum and Lake Charles Carbon Co. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother. His greatest joy was caring for his grandchildren. Darrell never met a stranger and was a good friend to all. He had a lifelong passion for the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing. Darrell is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathleen Morrissey Delaney of Big Lake; one son, Shane Delaney of Big Lake; one daughter, Debra Delaney of Lake Charles; three granddaughters, Cortney Delaney, Kayla Delaney and Jéanne Nash; his mother, Beverly Theriot Delaney of Big Lake; and three brothers, John Delaney and wife Marsha of Big Lake, Bryan Delaney and wife Kathy of Tyler, Texas, and Ancil Delaney and wife Bobbye of Big Lake. Mr. Delaney was a loving and devoted husband and father who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his four sons. She lived most of her life in the Grand Lake community. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and was a very active member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. DEVALL, Claude Pierson LCAP 11/30/2005 July 15, 1954-Nov. 28, 2005 Claude Pierson Devall, 51, died at 8:47 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, in a Lake Charles hospital. Claude was born on July 15, 1954, in Sulphur and lived in Hackberry most of his life. He and his wife, Cele; daughter, Courtney; and grandson, Conner, had recently moved to Lake Charles. Claude had been a lifelong member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Hackberry, and had recently become a parishioner of St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Claude was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved to travel and was always planning the next trip on the way home from some adventure. He lived life to the fullest and although he will be greatly missed by all of us his strength, honesty, love and wisdom will always be with us. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cele McLain Devall, son, T-Claude Devall, daughter, Courtney Devall, and one grandson, Conner Devall, all of Lake Charles. DYSON, Velma WINNFIELD — Velma Jane Marcantel Dyson, 74, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 in a Winnfield nursing facility. She was born on Aug. 19, 1931, in Big Lake to Marion and Edna Demarets Marcantel. Velma lived in Longville for 42 years before moving to Winnfield almost five years ago. She enjoyed activities at her apartment complex and her hobby was playing bingo. Velma was a regular volunteer at a Winnfield nursing home. She enjoyed being around her friends. Velma was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Dyson and wife, Cathy, of Lake Jackson, Texas; a daughter, Charlene Kile and husband, Larry, of Winnfield; her sisters, Verdie Douglas of Lake Charles and Mildred Pelifigue of West Monroe; five grandchildren; two stepgranddaughters; 10 greatgrandchildren; a brother-inlaw, John Dyson of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
