She was a lifelong resident of Creole and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters and the Ladies Altar Society. Survivors include her two sons, “F.J.” Gaspard and his wife, Joy, of Lake Charles and “E.J.” Gaspard of Creole; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gaspard. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. today, July 31, from Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Creole. Father Joseph McGrath will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Marsh Cemetery in Little Chenier under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Creole. Visitation is from 8 a.m. in the funeral home. GAUDET, Matilda B. LCAP 03/07/05 Pg. A2 column 2 Matilda B. Gaudet, 80, died at 5:25 a.m. Sunday, March 6, 2005, in a local hospital after an 11- year battle with ovarian cancer. Mrs. Gaudet was born on Cow Island and has lived in the Lake Charles area since 1951. She was a 1942 graduate of Creole High School and worked as a sales clerk for Muller’s department store for a number of years. Mrs. Gaudet was a charter member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and also a member of the Catholic Daughters. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Burtis Gaudet; two daughters, Patricia LeJune and her husband, James, and Garadeen "Deenie" Nordan and her husband, Bob Jr., all of Lake Charles; one son, Ronald Jordan Gaudet of Houston; six grandchildren, Brian and Joel LeJune, Bob III and Chris Nordan, and Amy and Ronnie Gaudet Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Madeline and Jace LeJune, Bob IV, and Reagan and Hannah Nordan; and one godchild, Debbie Theriot of Creole. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, from Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Ronnie Groth will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation is today from 11 a.m.-10 p.m., with a Scripture service to be held at 6 p.m., followed by at rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be James LeJune and Bob Nordan Jr GIBSON, Herbert Jr. LCAP 05/29/05 Born June 26, 1927 Died May 28, 2005 Herbert "Buck" Gibson, Jr., 77, of Lake Charles died at 3:45 AM, Saturday, May 28, 2005 in a local care facility. He was a native of Victoria, TX and lived in Cameron many years prior to moving to Lake Charles five years ago. Mr. Gibson was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Mason and a member of Sale Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Nelson Gibson; one daughter, Gay Gibson both of Lake Charles; one son, Gary Gibson and wife, Sandra of Moss Bluff; grandchildren, Jennifer Dimas and Benjamin Dimas and wife, Tracie, and Tracy Reed, and husband, Aaron, and Rhiannon Gibson; great grandchildren, Zachary Dimas, and Tyler and Haley Reed; one sister, Frankie Roell of Victoria, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. GOSS, Della LCAP 10/14/2005 WESTLAKE — Della Mae “Del” Goss, 83, died at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at a local hospital. Mrs. Goss was born in Big Lake and lived in the Lake Charles area before moving to Westlake in 1953. She attended St. Charles Academy in Lake Charles. She was a member of Westlake United Methodist Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8107. Her favorite pastime was cooking. Mrs. Del will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Goss is survived by her daughter, Brenda Nelms and husband Ron of Merryville; son, Dave Goss of Westlake; friend, Margaret Goss; brother, Joe Billy Corbello of Westlake; grandchildren, Monica Fontenot of Sulphur, Chris Goss of Tampa, Fla., Melissa Young of Leesville and Serai Morrison of Sigonella, Sicily; and great-grandchildren, Matthew A. Fontenot, Nicholas Joseph Goss and Emmah Raigh Young. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Goss. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. B.I. GRANGER, Clement “Black” 11/01/05 SWEETLAKE — Clement Lance “Black” Granger, 84, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, in a local care center. Mr. Granger was a native and life-resident of Sweetlake. He was a graduate of Grand Lake High School. Mr. Granger served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He continued working after retiring as a plumber for Pistol Plumbing for several years. He was a charter member of VFW 8107 and a charter member of Sweetlake Volunteer Fire Department, where he served for 18 years. Mr. Granger is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irma Nunez Granger of Sweetlake; two sons, Clement J. Granger and wife Shirley of Iota, and Dwayne Granger of Sweetlake; three daughters, Carol Granger and Madelyn LaBove, both of Sweetlake, and Frances Baccigalopi and husband Bobby of Houston; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gussi Mhire of Sweetlake, Florence Hoffpauir of Sulphur, and Adalie Granger of Lake Charles; one aunt, Delia Ardoin of Sulphur; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Granger; and one granddaughter, Irma Louise Granger. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at St. Patrick’s Chapel. GRANGER, Mary Susan LCAP 01/01/2006 Mary Susan Granger, 89, died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, in a local hospital. She was a native of Big Lake and a member of St. Mary of the Lake Altar Society, where she had served as a Eucharistic minister, and was also a member of the Home Demonstration Club. She is survived by three sons, Ernest Ray Granger of Carlyss, Harold David Granger of Nashville, Tenn., and Joseph Neil Granger of Grand Lake; one daughter, Judy Broussard of Abbeville; one half sister, Mrs. George (Virgie) Duhon of Grand Lake; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 4 p.m. Monday in the church. Mrs. Kershaw-Gueho passed away at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, in a Lake Charles hospital. She was born in Pendleton, Ore., where she shared her younger days, and Ogden, Utah. She had resided in Hackberry since 1953, where she was a member of First Baptist Church. She retired from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services, having served at Sabine National Wildlife Refuge for more than 22 years. Bobbie served as a Girl Scout leader for 10 years, a director for the Calcasieu Cameron Fair Board for 22 years, an employee of DeBarge’s Convenience Store for more than 20 years, the pianist for Hackberry United Methodist Church for 20 years, a member of the Rita Walther Memorial Scholarship Committee, a voting commissioner for Cameron Parish, a member of the Cameron Parish 911 Communications Board and manager for the Hackberry branch of the Cameron Parish Library. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, Families Helping Families or First Baptist Church of Dent, 6384 Harrison Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45247. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel A. and Elsie Thomas Sr.; first husband, Elair Kershaw; second husband, Joseph Shelby Gueho; and three sons, Warren Kershaw, Steven Kershaw and Leonard Kershaw. GUILLORY, Connie Sue LCAP 08/4/05 Connie Sue Guillory, 56, of Lake Charles, died at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, in her residence. Mrs. Guillory was born in Creole, and was a graduate of South Cameron High School. She had lived in Lake Charles for the past 28 years. Mrs. Guillory is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Joe Guillory of Lake Charles; two sons, John Joseph Dewbre and Kenneth Bonner Pierce, both of Lake Charles; mother, Vernita Landry Tillery of Creole; father, Leo Williams of Nacogdoches, Texas; sister, Barbara Portie of Creole; five halfbrothers; 11 half-sisters; and four grandchildren, Malachi Joseph Dewbre, Ginger Tyme Dewbre, Alexis Compton and Jevin Micheal Pierce. She was preceded in death by her son, Billy Dewbre Jr.; and brother, Charles Williams Reagan. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, in Johnson Funeral Home chapel.
