A2 column 1 GUEYDAN — The funeral for John "Bascom" Marceaux, 79, will be at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 12, 2005, from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Francis Appuhamy will officiate. Burial will be in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Lake Arthur. Visitation is prior to services. Mr. Marceaux died at 1:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, in Crowley American Legion Hospital. He was a 30- year resident of Gueydan, moving there from Cameron Parish. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a retired cattleman and rancher, and he was a member of Cattleman’s Association and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, James Lee and Donna Marceaux of Lake Charles, Malcolm Joseph and Marlene Marceaux of Gueydan and Keith Wayne and Ann Marceaux of Baton Rouge; one sister, Gene Trahan of Lafayette; one brother, John Bill Marceaux of Lake Arthur; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odelon and Celina Mallett Marceaux; wife, Mary Lee Daigle Marceaux; son, John Bascom Marceaux Jr.; and brother, Thomas James Marceaux. MARCEAUX, Murphy J. She was a loving wife, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a love for music, dancing and flowers. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Hank Badon, Jr. and her parents. A native of Grand Chenier, he was a resident of Lake Charles for most of his life. He was employed by Manhattan Plant in Cameron and was a member of Christian Baptist Church. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Freeman Memorial Church of God in Christ. Elder Donald Catlon will officiate. She retired as a counselor and teacher at LSU. She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Miller of Metairie; and one nephew, J.C. “Mickey” Theriot and his wife, Bekye, of Brazoria, Texas. Miller, 74, went to be with his Lord February 22, 2005 in his residence. He was a native of Grand Chenier and had been a resident of Lake Charles for many years. He graduated from LaGrange High School and served in the Marines in Korea. He retired from Firestone as a pipefitter after 37 ½ years. He was a member of University Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Carole Ellender Miller; one son, Doug Miller; one daughter, Adrienne Sumrall and husband, William; grandsons, Joshua, Matthew, and Benjamin Sumrall all of Lake Charles; one sister Rose Marie Hutson and husband, Jerry of Taliquah, Oklahoma; one brother, Dale Miller and wife Mary Nell of Lacassine; his mother-in-law, May Ellender; and many nieces and nephews. A2 column 5 Born: November 11, 1938 Died: May 18, 2005 Wilbert "Poncho" Paul Miller, 66, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, in a local hospital. He was born in Cow Island and resided in Cameron. At a young age he was employed by the Cameron Parish School Board as a bus driver for 28 years. He worked with R.D. Cooper, running the first phone lines in Cameron; was a meat butcher for Singletary’s Grocery Store; worked for Mill White; was a gas truck driver for Mobil Bulk Plant; and was self-employed at the Mobil Gas Station. He served in the community in many ways. He volunteered as an altar boy; helped build Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church; and helped with bazaars and the Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo. Survivors include his wife, Ruby C. Miller of Cameron; three daughters, Madeleine Gunter of Carlton, Ga., Penelope Parker of Tomball, Texas, and Florette Trahan of Lake Charles; five sisters, Opal Rials of Lake Charles, Katie Trahan of Little Chenier, Rita Adams and Vergis Adams, both of Cutoff, and Anita Suarez of Scott; one brother, Dalton Miller of Lake Charles of Lake Charles; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He worked as a Crane Rigger in the ship building industry for O. P. I. for 10 years. Survivors include his father, Earl T.
