GRAND CHENIER — Joseph A. "Pup" Nunez, 71, died Monday, March 28, 2005, in a local hospital. 
Mr. Nunez was born in Forked Island and lived in Grand Chenier. He was a member of St. Eugene
Catholic Church. He retired after 34 years from Amoco Petroleum as a field foreman. 
Survivors include his wife, Betty LaBove Nunez of Grand Chenier; three sons, Randy Nunez of
Gillis, Gerard Nunez of Grand Chenier and Pat Nunez of Creole; one daughter, Vida Landry of Grand
Chenier; one stepson, Kenny Ray Smith of Lafayette; one brother, Drozan Nunez of Kaplan; 14
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous stepgrandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Ann Theriot Nunez; and children Ricky, Dolores and
Donnie. 
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. today, March 30, from St. Eugene Catholic Church. The Rev. Vincent
Vadakkedath will officiate. Burial will be in St. Eugene Cemetery under the direction of Hixson
Funeral Home of Creole. Visitation is from 8 a.m. in the church.
