LCAP 07/25/05 HACKBERRY — Loretta Ann Devall Seay, 60, died at 3:45 a.m., Sunday, July 24, 2005, in a Sulphur hospital. She was born Aug. 2, 1944, in Lake Charles and was a lifelong resident of Hackberry. Mrs. Seay was a lifelong member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Loretta’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was also a huge supporter of Hackberry Lady Mustang basketball for many years. Loretta was employed by the Cameron Parish School Board and retired as a bus driver after 29 years at Hackberry High School. She was a true believer and was always quoted as saying, “Always give 110 percent,” and that is exactly was she did, day in and day out. Her faith, courage and will are what gave her the desire to live each day to the fullest. She will be surely missed but never forgotten, and it is never to say good-bye, but is, “We will see you later, Retta.” Loretta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt. She is survived by her lifeloved husband of 42 years, Charles Seay of Hackberry; her father, Alfred Devall, both of Hackberry; one son, Charlie Seay and wife, Julie, of Carlyss; two daughters, Monise Seay and Tiffany Montgomery and husband, Russell, all of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Ryan and Sage Seay, Peyton Montgomery, and Sonni and Jaci Vincent; sisters, Jeanie Vick and husband, Bubba, of Lake Charles, and Theresa Leonards and husband, Ludwig, of Hackberry; and five brothers, Mike Devall and wife, Frances, James (Bubba) Devall and wife, Lana, Joseph Devall and wife, Kathy, Allen Devall and wife, Debbie, all of Hackberry, and Claude Devall and wife, Cele, of Lake Charles. Her mother, Lavelle Devall, precedes her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry. The Rev. Roland Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be in the Hackberry Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be from 3-10 p.m. today, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8-10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter the Apostle Church Hall in Hackberry. Pallbearers will be all her nephews, Claude Jr., Mike, Alfred, David, Brandon, Jay, Joey, Kenny and Matthew Devall, Guy and Mitch Vick, Ludwig Leonards Jr. and Coby Seay. Mrs. Silver was born on Oct. 24, 1918, to Lastie and Eveline Duhon. SIMON, Anola Swire LCAP 10/29/2005 Anola Swire Simon died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, in a local nursing home. She had lived in Hackberry for more than 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Phillip Simon; daughters, Ethel Navarre and Rose Theriot; and son, Roy James Simon. Survivors include her sons, Clarence Swire of Sulphur, and J.D. Simon and Leroy Simon, both of Hackberry; daughters, Mrs. Perfecto Gallegos (Hazel) of Hackberry, Ruby Constance of Holly Beach, Mrs. Joseph East (Barbara) and Mrs. Mitchell Kyle (Billie), both of Hackberry, and Mrs. Gary Waggoner (Vernice) of Sulphur; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and five great-great- grandchildren. SMITH, Billie Ray Earle LCAP 10/31/2005 Billie Ray Earle Smith, 74, died on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, in a Lake Charles hospital. Mrs. Smith was a native of Rockdale, Texas, and had lived in Grand Lake most of her life before moving to Lake Charles five years ago. She was a teacher’s aide at Grand Lake High School and a member of the Homemakers Extension Club. Mrs. Smith was also a pink lady at Christus St. Patrick Hospital in Lake Charles. She was a member of First Christian Church in Lake Charles. Survivors include two sons, Preston Smith of Lake Charles, and Terry Smith and his wife, Brenda, of Grand Lake; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Taylor Smith, both of Grand Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin “Pat” Smith Jr. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 31, in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Charles. Pastor Mona Lisa Garrett will officiate. Visitation will be today from 8 a.m. to the time of services. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in Oddfellows Cemetery in Rockdale, Texas. STOUTE, Mary Ethel Born: September 28, 1938 Died: May 25, 2005 Memorialized by: Hixson Creole, Creole, LA Mary Ethel Stoute, 66, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, in a Lafayette hospital. She was a native of Church Point, Louisiana and had lived in the Cameron area since 1962. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending church. Survivors include her loving husband, Jimmie Stoute of Cameron; one son, James Keith Stoute and wife Tracey of Cameron; two daughters, Priscilla Ann Clark of Cameron and Roxanne Stoute Helms of Abbeville; two brothers, John Huey Thibodeaux of Lewisburg, LA, and Joseph Auriele Thibodeaux of Scott, LA; one sister, Mary Alice LeJeune of Church Point, LA; and four grandchildren. SWIRE, Freddie LCAP 04/08/2005 Freddie Paul Swire, 62, of Ragley died on Tuesday, April 05, 2005 in Lake Charles Memorial Hospital after a two-month battle with lung cancer. Mr. Swire was a native of Grand Chenier and had lived in Ragley for the past 35 years. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in combat duty in the Vietnam War. Mr. Swire was a former member of Carpenter?s Local #953 and was retired from Basell USA as a carpenter. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Ragley and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #3231 in Dequincy. He was an avid fisherman and camper and he loved working around the house. He especially enjoyed building the outdoor kitchen at his home. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hebert Swire; one son Kevin Lee Swire of Ragley; one brother, Wilfred Swire of Rayne; and five sisters, Ruby Nunez of Grand Chenier, Lucy Faulk of Bayou Vista, Lucille Suire of Lake Arthur, Mary Ann Stelly of Lawtell, and Betty Ann Guidry of Kaplan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda LeDoux Swire, two grandchildren, Anna Catherine Swire and Joseph Lee Swire; his parents, Adia Meaux and Delma Swire; two brothers, Obray Suire and Wilson Swire; and one sister, Hilda Miller. He was a native of Grand Chenier and had lived in the Lake Charles area for 50 years. He was a member of Candlestick Baptist Church. He was an avid accordion player and loved French music. Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy Newman Swire; two sons, Ronald M. Swire of Victoria, Texas, and Dale A. Swire of Lake Charles; two daughters, Chryel Douga of Vinton, and Norma Naranjo of Houston; two stepsons, Paul Frieu Jr. of Lake Charles, and David Paul Frieu of Winnfield; one sister, Emma Fontenot of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Guidry Swire; and second wife, Viola Marie Hendricks. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, in Hixson Chapel. SWIRE, Tina Mitchell LCAP 11/24/2005 Tina Marie Mitchell Swire, 43, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, in her residence. A native of Texas, formerly of Grand Chenier, she had resided in Lake Charles for the last 12 years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and worked as a nursing caretaker for a number of years. Survivors include her husband, Eulice “E.J.” Swire; sons, Joseph D. “Joey” Swire and Cody Swire; brother, Steven Wayne McElfresh; father, Paul Mitchell; and stepfather, William McElfresh. Her mother, Joretta McElfresh, preceded her in death. Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. Saturday.
